Narrow Hygienic Cable Gland for Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical Equipment
The Type N is the narrow version of our hygienic cable gland, for equipment where mounting depth or clearance is limited. It keeps the same SS316L (1.4404) hygienic design, blue FDA seals and IP68/IP69K rating as the Type S, in a more compact body that fits small installation positions. On machines with tight spacing – closely packed cable entries, shallow enclosures or limited clearance – a standard gland may not fit. The Type N gives you the same sealing and cleanability in a slimmer footprint, so you do not trade hygiene for space.
Same hygienic design as the Type S: a double sealing ring (blue H-NBR plus food-grade silicone), an anti-rotation gear-tooth grip, a drainable Ra < 0.8 µm body, and rugged corrosion-, impact-, acid- and alkali-resistant SS316L.
Same materials, seals, ratings and thread/cable sizes as the Type S; the body is simply more compact. SS316L (1.4404), Ra < 0.8 µm; blue FDA H-NBR ring (-25 to +150 °C) and food-grade silicone cable seal (-60 to +200 °C); IP68 / IP69K; 3-A / FDA.

The same hygienic washdown areas as the Type S – dairy, beverage, bakery, meat and poultry, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and cleanrooms – wherever a standard gland will not fit the available space.

HNBR: High mechanical strength and good resistance to oil, heat, wear, ozone, and ageing. Well suited to demanding sealing applications involving oils and lubricants.
EPDM: Excellent resistance to weathering, ozone, hot water, and steam, with good flexibility at low temperatures. Generally unsuitable for petroleum-based oils and fuels.
Based on our market observations, HNBR seals are common in food-processing equipment and EPDM seals in pharmaceutical equipment. For other applications, contact us to confirm the suitable material.
